The shore excursion to Positano and Pompeii with wine tasting departing from the port of Sorrento is ideal to make the most of every feature of this Campania stretch of land: history, archaeology and art, the beauty of the views, la dolce vita and good food.
Your driver, who speaks perfect English, will pick you up at the port of Sorrento at 8.30am with a fully insured Mercedes car with all the comforts.
The first stop on our shore excursion from Sorrento port will be in Positano, the Pearl of the coast, famous worldwide for its urban structure where the houses look like they are built on each other. Here you will have free time to stroll through the narrow streets and steps on which local craft stores, linen, pottery and handmade sandals shops overlook.
You can visit the Roman Villa that was discovered beneath the Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta and remained buried for almost ten centuries and beaches, among the finest in the world, the beach of Fornillo, a little gem that extends under the shade of a Torre Saracena and the Spiaggia Grande of Positano, one of the world's most glamorous beaches overlooked by renowned restaurants in which you will eat good fish and recipes like gnocchi with tomato and basil and the pizza margherita.
After Positano, we will head towards the Vesuvius to visit a beautiful winery and here you will taste 5 different wines from Campania and have lunch with typical local products such as salame, provolone cheese, garlic bread, homemade bread with Campano extra virgin olive oil and spaghetti with tomato and basil, all accompanied by Lacryma Christi wine, rosé, red and white. Finally we will taste a great Italian spumante and an apricot liqueur after enjoying a typical Neapolitan dessert called the "pastiera", an Easter cake made with pastry filled with ricotta cheese, cream and corn cooked in milk with orange aromas and candied fruit.
The last stop on our shore excursion from the port of Sorrento is Pompeii, the ancient Roman city buried in 79AD by the fury of the volcanic eruption f Vesuvius and covered under a blanket of lava and solidified powder for over 7 centuries.
In Pompeii you can visit the ancient patrician houses named in latin languages "domus" that came to light during many years of excavation and the entire city, a real archaelogical treasure, that makes us relive the ancient life of Roman Empire towns.
A real peculiarity are the plaster casts of the people who died during the eruption, obtained by pouring the plaster into the empty cracks of the rock.
The shore excursion to Positano and Pompeii with wine tasting departing from the port of Sorrento ends with the return to the port of Sorrento at about 4.30pm.
